CT Paid Leave is a state-run program that provides income replacement (not job protection) to covered workers who take time away from their jobs for specific, qualifying reasons. You may qualify for CT Paid Leave if you are taking:

  • Medical leave for a serious health condition

  • Caregiver leave for a family member with a serious health condition

  • Bonding leave to care for a newborn, newly adopted, or foster child

  • Safe leave due to family violence or sexual assault

  • Military caregiver leave

  • Responding to a qualifying exigency related to a family member's military service

Eligible workers can receive:

  • Up to 12 weeks of paid leave in a 12-month period for most qualifying reasons

  • Up to 2 additional weeks of leave for pregnancy-related health needs

  • Up to 12 days of the 12-week total may be used for safe leave

Connecticut residents who are sole proprietors or self-employed have the option to voluntarily enroll in the CT Paid Leave program to access income replacement benefits during qualifying life events.
